Underweight

Being underweight is often referred to as malnutrition.

Malnutrition – simply means “bad nutrition” but it can cause:

· Low mood· Reduced energy levels· Reduced muscle strength· Reduced quality of life
· Difficulty with carrying out daily activities· Increased risk of illness and infection· Slower wound healing· Increased risk of falls

Malnutrition is most commonly caused by not eating enough (undernutrition) or not eating enough of the right food to give your body the nutrients it needs. This is often caused by illness but can be caused by other things as well.
