- Oils and spreads should be used in small amounts
- Spread very thinly
- Use a spoon or spray to control the amount used in cooking
- There are 2 main types of fat - saturated and unsaturated
- Both saturated and unsaturated fat are high in calories
- Choose unsaturated fats - this includes sunflower, olive and rapeseed oils and spreads
- Avoid or limit saturated fats - this includes butter, lard, and fats on and in meats
- Saturated fat is also found in foods like pies, sausage rolls, pizzas, and other pastry foods
