  • Meals should be based on potatoes, bread, rice pasta or other starchy carbohydrates
  • These foods should make up over 1/3rd of what we eat each day
  • Choose wholegrains where possible as they're a good source of fibre
  • On their own these foods aren't high in fat however we should be careful how we prepare or serve them as this can increase their fat and energy content
