Key Chat Points

  • Adults should aim to eat 30g of fibre per day
  • Fibre is found in plant foods, so from the green and yellow sections of the Eatwell Guide
  • Choose wholegrain varieites from the yellow section - they contain more fibre
  • Eating the skins on fruit and vegetables increases your fibre intake.
  • Fibre intake should be increased gradually - don't suddenly go from having very little to having lots
  • Make sure you're drinking enough if you increase your fibre intake (otherwise you could end up with constipation)
