Sleep and Weight

Many people report poor sleep and this can have many negative consequences for our physical health and our weight. People who tend to get less than 6 hours sleep or more than 8 hours a night struggle to achieve similar weight loss compared to people who get between 6 and 8 hours of sleep, the reasons behind are varied.

When we have poor sleep we perhaps struggle to stick to healthier eating patterns as we tend to seek out more comforting and energy dense food to try and help with our energy levels. If you are struggling to have a regulated sleep pattern it might be useful to speak with your GP.
