  • Oils and spreads should be used in small amounts
  • Spread very thinly
  • Use a spoon or spray to control the amount used in cooking
  • There are 2 main types of fat - saturated and unsaturated
  • Both saturated and unsaturated fat are high in calories
  • Choose unsaturated fats - this includes sunflower, olive and rapeseed oils and spreads
  • Avoid or limit saturated fats - this includes butter, lard, and fats on and in meats
  • Saturated fat is also found in foods like pies, sausage rolls, pizzas, and other pastry foods
