Steps to Mindful Eating 

  1. Switch off from all distractions. TV switched off. Computer/tablet/phone placed away from eating area.
  2. If possible try to eat at a table.
  3. Pause and take in everything on your plate. Appreciate where your food has come from and the effort that has gone in to reach your plate.
  4. Take small mouthfuls, we tend to taste food more this way
  5. Use all your senses, pay attention to the appearance, the smell, the taste.
  6. Chew slowly- this allows you to experience all the flavours. Eating more slowly also allows us to recognise fullness and when we need to stop eating.
