Anyone who's overweight and looking to lose weight, should aim to lose between 0.5 - 1.0 kg each week (that's 1 - 2 pounds).
Losing weight at a faster rate than this can mean that we've made lots of changes at one time and / or the changes we've made have been very big. Keeping going with these types of changes can be very difficult. So although our weight might go down for a while, it can end up increasing again when we can no longer keep going with the changes.
It's best to aim to make small changes which:
- are easier to keep going for the long-term
- can make a big difference to our weight over time
